Description

Between Thanksgiving and Christmas, anything can happen.

In this glittering and heartwarming collection, three of today’s bestselling sweet romance novelists offer up the gift of cheer for the winter holiday season.

A Christmas Do-Over by Sheila Roberts

Darby doesn’t want to go home for the holidays, but a career failure sends her slinking back to the small town she always wanted to escape. No one there is happy to see the former mean girl—especially not her sister, Erica, or childhood best friend, Gregory. Darby is working hard to be a better person, but has she eaten enough humble pie to make amends?

Dashing Through the Snow by Melissa Ferguson

When Willow’s boyfriend of seven years dumps her on the eve of a romantic getaway, she decides to take the two-week train trip on The Christmas Express alone. Hurt as she feels, she can’t anticipate how the hilarious rebound ride with conductor Oliver, elf Ian, and aging world adventurer Clarence will heal her heart—and renew her sense of worth.

A Perfectly Splendid Christmas by Amy Clipston

Kacey adores the metropolitan life, but when she gets away to help her sister during a family crisis and run her bakery, she falls in love with former classmate Drew. The problem: he’s a small-town man, and she’s a big-city woman. Is their love big enough to overcome such a major difference?

Curl up with your favorite holiday drink and sink into three worlds where dreams once thought long gone are still within reach.

“Filled with Christmas spirit, and a little chaos, too, all three stories left my heart filled with joy . . . Five stars overall!” —Nancy Naigle, bestselling author.

My Thoughts

If you enjoy holiday Hallmark Channel movies, you will most likely enjoy these three stories from this Christmas novella collection. All three novellas are set between Thanksgiving leading up to Christmas day. This book will make a cozy and fantastic read for the holiday months with your favorite hot beverage or a wonderful Christmas gift for someone you know who enjoys a relaxing romantic story.

A Christmas Do-Over
By Sheila Roberts

This story is one that I can honestly say had me rolling my eyes quite a few times at some of the characters. Roberts did a fantastic job writing this story with such descriptive words to illustrate the characters and the scenes in the story that made the reader feel like they were there. I felt the way Darby and her sisters spoke to one another for twenty-eight-year-olds was very childish and snobbish. At the story’s beginning, I wanted to rush through reading because I could not stand how cringy it was to hear her and her sister have such juvenile disagreements. Will Darby change and mature to have a more adult conversation with her sister/family? I can honestly say in this story, I was the girl behind the counter who dealt with mean girls such as Darby and her high school friends, so I did not have much empathy for Darby at first. How will Darby mend and make up for the years of disrespecting others with her ill-mannered acts? Will she find humility? Find out in this very well-written story by Sheila Roberts.

Dashing Through the Snow
By Melissa Ferguson

Are you ready for an exciting and entertaining train ride? Then all aboard for a cozy comical Christmas train ride as you tag along with Willow and her solo romantic getaway. After a humiliating breakup with a boyfriend of seven years, Willow finds herself punching in the ticket alone to what would have been a romantic train ride getaway for couples. This breakup does not stop her from the trip; instead, she finds herself in some unique situations on the train where it is all but an uneventful getaway. Ferguson did a fantastic job capturing the personalities of each character and their uniqueness, and yes, even one for a creepy Elf named Ian. I think Willow would be such a great person to talk to, seeing she has humility, care, and a bit of a sense of humor. Will Willow return on the right “track” after a bad ending with her Ex and find a better beginning?

A Perfectly Splendid Christmas
By Amy Clipston

If you read and enjoyed Amy Clipston’s Heart of Splendid Lake, then you will also enjoy this short contemporary romance novella story as well. The reader revisits Splendid Lake, North Carolina.  I always enjoy how much detail Cliptson puts into her stories. Each story always makes you feel like you are right in the room with such photographic detail and relatable characters with realistic obstacles. In A Perfectly Splendid Christmas, you will meet Kacey, who returns home to help her sister with her bakery. I can smell the fantastic baked goods and hear the little children practicing Christmas songs for their small-town community. But who is the music teacher, and how does this change the rest of Kacey’s visit back home? This is a charming love story about taking a second chance and, once again, a very well-written page-turner from Clipston from beginning to end.
